A new smart city on Shanghai's doorstep
In May 2019, the Shanghai local government and Chinese consultancy EFEC invited us to Lingang, a new city designed by German architects one hour south of Shanghai. Lingang is built on land reclaimed from the sea, between the mouths of the Yangtze and Qiantang rivers and wants to be more famous as a smart city with high environmental standards appealing to a new generation of tech entrepreneur.
Despite Tesla building its first factory outside of the US in Lingang, the city government wants to turbo-boost overseas interest in the city as a welcoming and easy place to do business in China. And a great place to live for any aspiring cleantech business. We were asked to prepare a strategic engagement and comms plan to kick start awareness and consideration of Lingang as a genuine hub of talent amongst a particular local and international audience.
